Rules for the 2024 UEFA European Championship
Group Stage Qualification Rules
There are 24 teams in the group stage, divided into 6 groups with 4 teams in each group. The top 2 teams in each group, along with the 4 best third-placed teams, will qualify for the knockout stage. If two or more teams in the same group have the same number of points, the ranking will be determined in the following order:
a) The team with the most points in head-to-head matches among the tied teams ranks higher.
b) The team with the superior goal difference in group matches ranks higher.
c) The team with the most goals scored in group matches ranks higher.
d) If all the above criteria are equal, the teams will be ranked based on a penalty shootout.

Third-Place Team Qualification Rules
a) The team with the most points ranks higher.
b) The team with the superior goal difference ranks higher.
c) The team with the most wins in the group stage ranks higher.
d) The team with the higher fair play score (each yellow card deducts 1 point, each red card deducts 3 points) ranks higher.
e) The team with the higher UEFA national team coefficient ranking ranks higher.
Knockout Stage Rules
The knockout stage will feature single-leg matches. If a match is tied at the end of regular time, it will proceed to extra time. If still tied after extra time, the winner will be determined by a penalty shootout.
